With the huge number of iPods which are currently being used on a worldwide stage, the iPod has become the most popular and successful consumer device ever to be sold. It is also the bestselling MP3/MP4 player which is available on the market today.

October 2001 was the month when the iPod made is appearance. Ever since that period Apple has reinvented the iPod no less than five times and each reinvention has come with more features and a lot more accessories.

The initial generation of the iPod MP3 player, was a device with a scroll wheel and four buttons. The second generation came with a touch sensitive wheel as well and versions with 10 GB and 20 GB hard drives. The third generation came with touch sensitive buttons as well as USB connectivity. The fourth generation iPod came with a click wheel and versions with 20 GB and 40 GB capacities. The version we have today comes with compatibility for MP4 and 60 GB video with video capabilities as well.

Defining the reasons that the iPod is the bestseller on the list of electronic devices in the 20th century can be tied to the features which it provides. It was purely designed for hustle and bustle lifestyle we have today. It is compact, sturdy, lightweight and easy to use. Its small size makes it portable enough to be carried wherever you may choose to go and where you chose to carry it. They can fit easily into your palms and they can also be put in pocket as well or even in a small purse.

It functions very well as an MP3 player with and it provides great sound with 60 MW built-in along with it. It also delivers the required sound as loud as you require it.

A built-in rechargeable battery comes with the iPod as well and this battery provides as much as 20 hours of playtime for music.

Due to the fact that the iPod works with iTunes, you can select music through your computer and download it to your iPod.

In order to get the best from your iPod, you should remember these tips:

  • Keep it turned off when not using it.
  • Keep your software updated.
  • Keep it at room temperature whenever possible.
  • If you are not using the backlighting, turn it off.
  • Turning off the equalizer will save you battery.
  • Use compressed songs to give you more space for more music

The iPod is clearly one of the most innovative and convenient ways with which to store the music which you like best. The way we listen to music has been completely changed. Anybody can store thousands of songs on an iPod and it suits a wide range of people all involved in different things. Whether they are at home, at work, working out or even waiting somewhere. Newer and better accessories are coming up for the iPod and with these introductions the iPod is even becoming all the more popular and sought after worldwide.
